The company Creative Recreation Shoes was started in Los Angeles in 2002 by two friends, Robert Nand and Richard Confinco, who spotted a gap in the footwear market. The only shoes available were either really smart dress shoes to wear with suits, or casual trainers not suitable for wear by a young, hip professional in a formal situation. These designs combine formal shoes and casual trainers in a unique and innovative way to produce high fashion footwear for men, women and children.

Nand and Confinco's philosophy was to create shoes that have originality and imagination, shoes that will stimulate play and activity that amuses and refreshes the mind and body. Defying characterisation, Creative Recreation footwear is created for the lifestyle of the trendy and non-conformist business person of today.

Some of the designs include canvas, such as the Cesario Lo, which has a retro look and contrasting sole strip and is available in colours such as white and dark grey. Other styles are produced in leather, such as the boot-like Solano. Some styles, such as the Kaplan, are available in two tone quilted fabric. The Pinelli Lo is available in a shiny finish to mimic neatly polished dress shoes. The Solano Hi combines leather and quilted fabric in a unique multi coloured design.

Other styles such as the Milano Hi, are available in a jersey combination. The Cesario is also available in denim and vibrant red for a bold statement. Creative Recreation trainers have recently become popular with high profile celebrities and have gained a significant portion of the footwear market.
