Lyle and Scott clothing was originally founded more than a hundred years ago in the small Scottish borders town of Harwich.  In 1874, partners William Lyle and Walter Scott stated this well known knitwear company, having been inspired by the knitwear giant Pringle of Scotland.

Lyle and Scott started life as just a small knitwear company making hosiery and underwear.  However, by the 1920s, Lyle and Scott jumpers had been added to the range, as the company expanded into outer wear.  In the 1950s Dior designed a range of cashmere Lyle & Scott jumpers.  The high quality knitwear of Lyle and Scott jumpers were a big success with golf enthusiasts.  Sporting men and women also enjoyed the comfort of a Lyle and Scott polo shirt as well as the Lyle & Scott v neck sweaters.
