Polo Ralph Lauren: the king of designer wear
Polo Ralph Lauren is one of those names that is a giant in designer wear. Whether you're talking about Ralph Lauren polo shirts, Ralph Lauren knitwear, or the more classic Ralph Lauren shirts, just a mention of the Ralph Lauren name is enough to make any style guru drool. The Polo Ralph Lauren collection is at the apex of style, and it is years since Ralph Lauren designer clothing was first considered a must-have for any truly discerning wardrobe.
Though the brand went through a slight dip, Ralph Lauren is still a necessity, and you can find what you need here at Tessuti. From Ralph Lauren jumpers to the more preppy polos, search our online and retail stores.
The rise of Polo Ralph Lauren
The brand that gave Ralph Lauren jumpers to an adoring public was a strictly American phenomenon until the label appeared on the UK fashion circuit in the late half of the twentieth century. Ralph Lauren hit a nerve of a fashionable public that was aching for something different from Armani. After the label's introduction, Ralph Lauren shirts replaced Armani business wear as the hallmark of good taste.
Ralph Lauren came from humble beginnings, but always had an eye for style. From the first moment when he launched the brand in 1967 the fashion public latched on to the effortless grace and classic lines in his designs. Today, Ralph Lauren shirts and Ralph Lauren jumpers, casually worn around the office, are the epitome of having arrived.
From Polo Ralph Lauren shirts to Ralph Lauren polo shirts
Strangely enough, Ralph Lauren polo shirts became the most distinctive pieces in the Polo Ralph Lauren line. The classic knit shirt with short sleeves which features the polo player silhouette as its logo became The Shirt To Have amongst the upper set in the 80s. Out of all polo shirts on the market at that time, Ralph Lauren polo shirts stood out for their quality and class.
Leading on from the success of Ralph Lauren polo shirts was the Ralph Lauren knitwear line. Pieces such as cable knit sweaters crafted from cashmere from the Ralph Lauren jumpers line caught the eye of the fashion elite, and Ralph Lauren knitwear joined the ranks of the must-haves.
Style all the way from the Bronx
The man behind the famed Ralph Lauren shirts line started out in the most unlikely of places: the Bronx. Ralph Lauren was interested in fashion from the start. His after-school time was spent working in order to earn money to buy suits, and his time in class was spent selling ties to classmates.
After working a job at Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren managed to launch his own necktie line in his own store in 1967. The next year, he was selling Ralph Lauren jumpers and other Ralph Lauren knitwear at a boutique in Bloomingdales and in 1970 the opportunity to dress young star Andrew McLean won the label an award.
The label launched globally in 1981 and has been at the top of the ladder ever since. Now, you can find Ralph Lauren knitwear, business and sport in countries all over the world – and right here with us at Tessuti.
